Vision, Mission & History
Our vision is to be a preeminent and globally recognized authority whose leadership, perspective, resources and expertise are sought and utilized to address the most pressing, current and emerging human resource management issues.
Our mission is to be a globally recognized HR professional society that exists to develop and serve the HR professional, and advance and lead the HR profession. SHRM provides education, thought leadership, certification, community and advocacy to enhance the practice of human resource management and the effectiveness of HR professionals in the organizations and communities they serve.
Originally founded as the American Society for Personnel Administration (ASPA) by a small but visionary group of personnel administrators, SHRM has grown into the world's largest HR membership organization. SHRM has a dedicated staff of over 350 and is headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a US-based globally renowned association whose mission is to advance HR, had the goal of establishing a Philippine presence through a strategic educational partner. After much deliberation, they recognized Asia Select, Inc. (ASI), a respected Philippine-based organization whose vision is that every Filipino has a job filled with growth and value, as a trusted and credible partner.
Through their collaboration since 2017, the partnership was able to:
Educate HR professionals through learning sessions and forums in the Philippines.
Asia Select, Inc. invited SHRM Partners, Pradeep Mukerjee and Nishith Upadhyaya, to conduct two (2) HR business partner workshops. This professional development program ensured that Filipino HR professionals are globally competitive and equipped with the necessary skills needed to become effective in their roles.
Get Filipinos SHRM – CP or SHRM – SCP certified.
The reason why the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP credential is highly valued is due to the fact that it proves that the passer is a recognized expert and leader in the HR field—which in turn makes them a valuable asset to their organization. In addition, it keeps them and their organization competitive in today's economy. This professional distinction sets them apart from their colleagues and competitors, proving their high level of knowledge and skills.
In the first year of their partnership alone, they were able to encourage a good number of HR Filipino professionals to take the SHRM – SCP certification. Twelve (12) Filipinos successfully passed the certification exams. Here are some of the country’s very own globally certified human resources professionals:
Veronica Estrella, SHRM – SCP, HR head at ANZ, Jeffery Johnson, SHRM – SCP, Senior Vice President – Human Capital Resource at Teleperformance Philippines, Alpha Omega Aquino, SHRM – SCP, Managing Director at Teleperformance Philippines, Danreb Oira, MIR, MM, SHRM – SCP, HR Business Partner at PLDT, and Robert Navarro, CPA, SHRM – SCP, Vice President at Asia Select, Inc.

ASI seeks to bring Filipino HR practitioners to the same level of global competence and make them at par with industry standards.
With all of this in mind, ASI is proud to be the first Philippine organization that SHRM has chosen to become their educational partner. Through their continued partnership and passion for people, without a doubt, the HR community in the Philippines will be prepared for the future of work.
